Black Bear's First Blog Post

This week in review: I have the Arizona Half Marathon coming up on Sunday Jan 18. My running schedule this week is all treadmill since I'm in Canada. I've been running 35 miles per week with no injuries, but I need to ramp down the volume for the next 2 weeks before the race, so I have fresh legs.
  • Tuesday 6 miles with 25 minutes of Tempo at 8:30 pace
  • Thursday 5 miles easy
  • Friday 5 miles easy with 6 strides of 20 seconds at 7:41 pace.
  • Saturday 8 miles at Half Marathon Goal Pace + 20 seconds. Several running calculators put my Half Marathon time at 1:57 - 1:58 based on my latest 10K time of 53:08. So, with that in mind my target pace for Saturday's 8 miles is 9:04 + 20 seconds = 9:25 pace.
  • Sunday 5 miles easy

  2. Congrats on the blog, woman! Didn't even realize you were in Canada (so much we learn from the blog world). I'm so happy for you that your mileage is working out and your body is handling it just fine, looks like it'll serve you well with that fabuloso race calendar. Here's to wonderful running this year!
